The Seahawks didn't soar as high as they would have liked over the past week, taking two back-to-back baseball losses. April 26, Lisbon beat Boothbay Region High School 10-1 and, April 29, Boothbay lost to Maranacook 4-2. The Seahawks are 2-2 for the season.

April 29, Maranacook took a two-run lead in the first inning and scored another run in both the fifth and sixth. Seahawks Liam Jacobs and Aidric Canada each scored one run in the sixth and seventh innings.

Sam Markowitz had two hits, while Jacobs and Henry Putnam each had one.

Jacobs and Canada took the mound and, combined, allowed eight hits and delivered 11 strikeouts.

April 26, the Seahawks took a harsh loss to Lisbon after a tight game up to the sixth inning.

“I felt we got a lot of players on base but just wasn’t able to get them home,” coach Ed Crocker said. “Players worked hard for five innings and, even though we made a few errors in the sixth, there were a lot of good plays that we made.”

The Greyhounds scored two runs in the first inning and Markowitz responded with the Seahawks’ sole run in the third.

Errors then hurt the Seahawks as the Greyhounds scored another run in the fifth and seven more in the sixth. Boothbay had six errors and Lisbon had one.

Markowitz led the offense with two hits. Finn Harkins, Maddox Cusumano, Jacobs, and Shawn Gamage each had one hit. Crocker said Gamage’s hit was his first for his high school career, on a long double. Lisbon had nine hits overall.

Harkins and Canada pitched for the Seahawks, delivering 12 strikeouts and allowing two walks and two earned runs.

“We are a good team this year and when we reduce errors by the defense we will beat a lot of teams,” Crocker said. “Lisbon is always tough but they said they were coming into the game with knowing that we would be tough to beat.”
