History

The Boothbay Register has been the region's premier news source since 1876.

Our main goal has always been to keep readers up to date on the people, places and events that form our community.

Tourism, shipbuilding and fishing have remained the primary economic mainstays over the decades. The Boothbay peninsula boasts not only an active year-round community, but is the summer home of hundreds of cottage owners, some of them fourth and fifth generation, from all across the country. Their activities are also of great importance to us, and our correspondents help them keep in touch with their summer home and friends throughout the year.

The Boothbay Register has won numerous Maine Press Association and New England Press Association awards over the years, most recently taking home more than 20 from MPA and several from NEPA this past year.
