Ocean Point Column: Grateful for town crews

Tue, 04/09/2024 - 8:45am

After a brief hiatus from writing the column I’m back with a renewed energy due in large part to two incredible crews, the Boothbay Road Crew and the Boothbay Region Water District.

There are not enough words to express the gratitude we all have for the enormous amount of physical work and countless hours they have spent in repairing the road damage at Ocean Point. I know I speak for all of Ocean Point when I convey how truly grateful we all are; you are all so amazing!

Check the BBRWD website for details and updates on water being turned on for the season. Thank you to the water district for all you do for the seasonal residents.

I also want to thank all those who posted pictures of the construction updates, these past few months. It was incredibly helpful to be kept informed and to see the progress that was occurring on a daily basis; and it was quite heartening too.

Water turn on is creeping up quickly which means many of us will be returning for another season of activities. The Activities Committee, which is headed by Ginna Yerrall, has once again worked diligently to bring a variety of fun and educational events throughout the summer. We are in need of chairs for some of our events, specifically, the food sale in August, Grimes Cove picnic, adult trivia and a movie night for kids and one for the adults. If interested in chairing any of these events please contact Ginna Yerrall or myself for further details.

Thanks to Barb Klein we now have Ocean Point merchandise for sale in our online store. There are some great items to purchase; hats, T-shirts, and hoodies. They make a great gift for a friend, a loved one or even for you! All proceeds from the sale of Ocean Point apparel supports the OPCT.

Congratulations to Dan and Kim Shea on the birth of their son Thomas Michael who was born just before Christmas. Congratulations to big brother Danny as well.

As I’m finishing up this week’s column the eclipse is about to begin. I heard there was a rumor that people were going to gather at the now non-existing three trees location. I do hope everyone enjoys this astronomical phenomenon.

Have a great week!
