Lighted Boat Parade: A few days late but worth the wait

    The Windjammer Days Lighted Boat Parade was delayed twice but the weather finally cooperated on Saturday, July 13 and several boats participated.

    According to the Friends of Windjammer Days Facebook site, the following awards were given to the boats: Best in Show - Jamma Jamma, Captain Mike van der Veen; Fleet Favorite - Breakaway lll, Captain Pete Ripley; Most Elegant - Paula Anne, Captain Nate Jones; Best Local Flavor - Osprey, Captain Rob Wheeler; Most Colorful - Clarice, Captain Tim Pinkham; Best Summer Tribute - Island Mode, Captain Craig, Oceanside Golf Resort; Most Patriotic - Captain Cathi Bertin; Best Launch - Bright Line, Spruce Point Inn; Best Lighted Ferry - Novelty, Captain Bill Campbell; Best Personality - Virginia, Captain Gordon Brooks.

    Mike van der Veen, who won best in show, is donating his $400 to Boothbay Region High School Athletics Boosters.
